Work With Us

Stadium Place Lab is a creative studio for better cities. We work with property owners and developers, architects, and city governments to create successful buildings, precincts and projects.

While most projects benefit from long-term engagement, we also offer quick turnaround consultations in cases where we believe we can add value. See below for an overview of our core service offering.

Place Vision + Positioning

When we have the privilege of being involved from an early stage, there’s potential for us to give creative direction to a project. We work to understand the site’s current context, and develop a vision that becomes the guiding beacon for the project, carving out a competitive position to maximise the potential for success.

TYPES OF PROJECTS + ENGAGEMENTS

Determining the product offering and design direction for a new mixed-use development (pre- or post- architectural appointment).

Unpacking the potential of a new or existing precinct, helping to ensure intent and outcome are aligned.

Visualisation of the long-term potential of a place, helping to rally support and buy-in from various stakeholders.

Retail Strategy + Curated Leasing

What happens at street-level is what gives life to a place. We help landlords and developers to establish viable place-led strategies for programming their buildings or precincts with the right mix of retail and commercial activity. Where suitable, we also oversee the leasing process, sourcing and vetting potential tenants.

TYPES OF PROJECTS + ENGAGEMENTS

Determining a suitable retail mix for a building or precinct, including the strategic placement of uses with activation and flow in mind.

Informing unit sizes, layouts and shopfront details to attract preferred retail tenants.

Sourcing and vetting potential retail tenants, working as a broker or in collaboration with other brokers.

Placemaking + Activation Strategy

Creating lively, inviting places that people feel connected to is no easy task, but it’s vital to get it right, regardless of the scale of a project. We lean on our experience in cultural programming and understanding of urban space to identify the ingredients required to bring a place to life — from public realm fixes and improvements, to active programming and community building.

TYPES OF PROJECTS + ENGAGEMENTS

Conducting of a place audit to establish what is or isn’t working in an existing space.

Developing a programme of uses and activity that builds on the qualities of a space and the communities that it can serve.

Giving direction to the design of the public realm, including seating, circulation, materiality and meaning.

Human-scale + Experience Design

Designing the human-scale experience of a building, precinct or public space is best approached at the human-scale. We work with developers and design teams to provide oversight of the details that matter — from the way it feels to be in and move through a space, to the various touch points that create the opportunity for comfort and connection.

TYPES OF PROJECTS + ENGAGEMENTS

Oversight of architectural and urban design process to ensure the successful translation of high-level plan to eye-level place.

Input on design, materiality and placement of important human-scale touch points — building entrances, public seating, retail shopfronts, etc.

Experience-driven design oversight of pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, including routes, intersections, signage, etc.

Place Branding + Creative Direction

The way in which a place speaks to the world is often the way in which it ends up being perceived. We help to ensure that genuinely good places are communicated with authenticity — through brand identity, photography, language, and relevant media channels. We combine in-house expertise with a network of collaborators, or act as creative director for client-appointed teams.

TYPES OF PROJECTS + ENGAGEMENTS

Naming and brand development for new buildings or precincts, driven by an authentic connection to place.

Creative direction of content development, including copywriting and photography that stands out from trend-driven competition.

Design and production of print material and signage, including visitor maps, exhibitions, wayfinding, etc.
